    | This site is a tribute to MUDA. MUDA was a Multi User Dungeon       |
    | Adventure, a multiplayer text adventure. If you are thinking MUD,   |
    | you are right.                                                      |

    | The not-so-standard part was that this game was written in REXX     | 
    | (with a few but important assembly parts), was running on an IBM4361|
    | mainframe and the network that had access to it was not internet,   |
    | but BITNET.                                                         |
    |                                                                     |
    | MUDA was active from late 1988 (i think, i am not sure), until 1993 |
    |(again, not sure). I was the creator and main programmer of the game,|
    | although several people helped with the coding later. Stelios wrote |
    | the assembly parts and some players started to write code later.    |
    | Back then i was using the name Gandalf and some times Merlin and i  |
    | was one of the "gods" of the game.                                  |
    |                                                                     |
    | The BITNET node where the game has been installed for the first time|
    | was GRCRUN11. Later the game moved two times. the first time to a   |
    | mainframe in Venice, Italy (IVEUNCC) and then back to University of |
    | Crete (GREARN). But it was too late for these mainframes and as one |
    | after the other were decommissioned, MUDA's code and data ended up  |
    | in one magnetic tape that i have not the faintest idea where it is  |
    | now.                                                                |

    | The main page of this site is from the only advertising post i ever |
    | made about the game (almost spam). The post was posted to GAMES-L (a|
    | BITNET mailing list) in September 15 1992 and it is still available |
    | if you search in the well-known newsgroups archive.                 |
